Urban Disasters
Urban Disasters and possible solutions for prevention and resilience will be the theme of a breakout session organized at this year’s conference of the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) on « Disasters and Environment: Science, Preparedness, and Resilience », which will take place in Washington, DC from January 15-17, 2013. Two experts from France are invited to speak: François Grünewald, executive director of Urgence Réhabilitation Développement and Marie-Hermine De Montangon, project manager in Haiti for Entrepreneurs du Monde.
Each year, NCSE’s flagship event gathers over 1200 participants from academia, NGOs and the policy-making world (local authorities, congress and administration). The breakout sessions aim to produce 10-15 recommendations for policy-makers, which are then presented to the Administration and relevant policy makers.
